Spring is just around the corner and that means are rapidly approaching the busy wedding season. We do a ton of wedding planning and in order to help our couples with some of their decisions regarding their big day, we like to keep up with the latest trends for weddings!

2020 and the pandemic obviously brought challenges and really made everyone rethink what a “safe” wedding would look like going forward. Many of our couples had to make changes, postpone their dates and re-imagine what their wedding day would look like. Wedding trends in 2020 have a lot of things in common, they are designed and planned to help couples hold an intimate and fun gathering that also keeps safety in mind for their families and guests. Here are a few of the most popular things we are seeing and that we can offer our couples as well:

Micro-Weddings:

Due to the pandemic, many couples have had to pare down the guest list in order to keep large groups of people from gathering. While it can be a hard decision to decide how many folks to have and who to include, the micro-wedding is a wonderful chance to really spend time and truly connect with the guests that are there. It’s a much more intimate affair with time to really relax and feel that you are able to be present for the guests.

Outdoor Weddings

Outdoor weddings just make sense. There is plenty of room for guests to spread out and feel safe. You are outdoors in the fresh air and it’s also a great way to tie your wedding into the natural surrounding beauty of your location. Tents, twinkle lights, beautiful flowers, candles and chandeliers can all be utilized to create a beautiful oasis that rivals or surpasses any indoor location!

Welcome Boxes

These are a great way to include everything that each of your guests need in an individual box. Include all of the essentials: mask (custom masks are fun too!), hand sanitizer, programs, a welcome letter and guest gifts!

Weekday Weddings

Weekday weddings are a big hit! Couples can book a week at their destination, have their family and friends join them for a weeknight casual rehearsal dinner followed by the wedding the next day and a sendoff brunch the day after. Everyone gets to spend time together and the couple can still have a few days to themselves afterward.

Details

Some of the other things we are getting requests for and offering are individual mini hors d’oeuvre as opposed to an hors d’oeuvre table as well as mini wedding cakes or desserts as opposed to one large cake. Also guests are requesting multiple seating areas with comy sofas and chairs, again allowing space for everyone to be able to spread out. Photo areas are as popular as ever with couples wanting several spots dedicated to photos that guests can snap and share immediately.

Most of the trends for the year are all about making your guests feels safe, downsizing the number of guests but not downsizing the amount of fun and intimacy of the day, getting outdoors, really focusing on the “quality” of everything as opposed to the “quantity.”
